Important Note: This extension will NOT help you access videos from sites like YouTube or Netflix. The extension does not provide any video streaming content of its own, it only makes it easier to find and use links for video streams that are already publicly available.
The extension intercepts visited web page's network requests and identifies all m3u8 video stream URLs. When a m3u8 URL request is found, it is displayed in a box that overlays the visited web page (see images above) from which you can copy the m3u8 URL or play the video stream. Also, you can open the extension's popup window to view the first and last m3u8 URLs found for each site, as well as to set a variety of extension options.
This extension does NOT provide functionality to download the actual video streams. There are already quite a few other extensions and programs for that.
For example, I use this extension mostly to identify video streams from live TV news streaming pages. If they use m3u8 files for the stream, I can play them with the extension's integrated video player, or copy the links to the clipboard to use with other video playing and recording programs like VLC, Kodi, or Jaksta Media Recorder.

Choosing 4 stars because it did used to work perfectly for me in the past. I'm not the most tech literate person out there so I'm not doubting that the problem might just be me, but no media players (including VLC AND the integrated media player) seem to be supporting the m3u8 URLs I paste into it? I go to my movie site, copy the URL, paste it into a media player, and all I get are error messages. Has something changed? These are exactly the same steps I followed roughly a year ago which led to zero issues -- I could even play movies on games like VRChat using the m3u8 URLs. Am I doing something wrong? I'd sincerely appreciate some help -- thank you!
so maybe i do a little pirating, maybe not. i got a notice on a bunch of my streams that i needed to update something about an HLS, and after doing zero research I picked this app. i was dubious at best, but it worked a treat after i restarted chrome. Thank you, kind code wizard, for helping a guy get back to watching all of star trek. deep space nine is surprisingly good
Currently makes browser crash for no reason. Please update it.

This extension works great for finding and playing M3U8 streams—it's fast and reliable! I'm giving it four stars with a suggestion for a feature that would make it five stars: Could you please consider adding simple video adjustment controls directly into the player, specifically for Brightness and Contrast (and ideally Hue)? Sometimes, the live channel feed is too dark or washed out, but I don't want to change my monitor's system settings just for one stream. Being able to quickly tweak the picture quality right within the M3U8 player would be a huge quality-of-life improvement. Thanks for the excellent tool!
