Great little extension, does exactly what I needed. A simple tool for a simple task. UI could benefit from some inline docs or examples (see below), but not a big problem - 1 minute of trial and error and everything works. --- Regarding UI. I use a huge website and have 10s of it's pages opened. Basically I need different favicons for "https://example.com/feature1/...", "https://example.com/feature2/..." and so on. * "Domain" filter like "https://example.com/feature1" didn't work. I guess it would work with "example.com" value. * "RegEx" filter. Not clear what's the intended syntax (PCRE?). For me it worked as just a substring filter "https://example.com/feature1" and with a wildcard at the end "https://example.com/feature1/*"
This extension does a perfect job changing site favicons. However, there's a show-stopping issue which prevents the extension from being useful: The extension changes BOTH the tab title and the favicon of the domains you customize. The extension does not allow only customization of favicons. This is a problem because tabs often display very useful information related to the page's content: peoples' names, ID numbers, etc. When this extension changes the tab's title, it completely clobbers that useful information and erases it, causing only the customized title to appear. This extension desperately needs to remove the requirement to change the tab's title. It should be possible to only change a domain's favicon without overwriting useful tab titles. Fix the tab title issue, and this is easily a 5-star extension.
If you want to change the website icons shown in tabs or bookmarks, this is the extension you need. I tried several extensions before finding this one, but they didn't work consistently (or at all) in dynamic pages. This one works like a charm by letting you add Regex rules to match whatever you need at a domain/page level. Even if you have no idea what I'm talking about, this extension is miles above the rest because it's intuitive -- simply type or copy/paste the URL and select a nice icon from the provided set (or add your own) and you're done. A+
