This Chrome extension allows you to load Reddit images directly, bypassing the HTML pages that contain the images. It supports URLs from i.redd.it, preview.redd.it, and external-preview.redd.it. Additionally, requests to www.reddit.com/media?url=$IMAGE_URL (the HTML page) are automatically redirected to $IMAGE_URL (the direct image URL).
Note: By adjusting the extension settings, you can prefer redirecting to the original high-resolution image URL (i.redd.it) over the preview URLs.

It does what it says. Except trying to open an image on a post ALSO redirects to just the image. All I care about is going to the image when right clicking and opening in a new tab, I don't want this behavior. And the settings button just does not work.
My salvation
Makes the preview zoomed in, whenever I do click on the image to have it load directly, it's a 50/50 chance that it just reloads the page with the preview. At some point it'll load the image directly, but not after resetting page a bunch of times. Example, say you're reading a comic and want to see the entire comic. You goto a page and it zooms in so you can no longer see it. So you click it to load it directly. Page refreshes to the first image. You scroll back to the page you were on and click it again because it's still zoomed in. You lost the 50/50. Back to the first image with the previews zoomed in. Nice in theory and on paper.
Works, but somehow makes the preview zoomed in?
Does not work properly when posts have 2 or more images It would be better if it opens a new tab also
Hey reddit, when I click "open image in new tab", I don't mean "open a junky web page with the image in it". I was already on one of those when I was in the post page. Thanks to extension author for fighting internet encrappifcation, it just works (for real).
Works flawlessly.
Works as advertised
please update, it doesn't work anymore UI issues with reddit
Thank you. A godsend
