When reading the news, it can be easy to get trapped into thinking there's only one viable perspective. In reality, all different groups from across the political spectrum may perceive the same event in a completely different light. For example:
Headline: Donald Trump signs an executive order that cracks down on undocumented immigrants.
Left response: Donald Trump is tearing apart families.
Right response: Donald Trump is enforcing US immigration law.
This extension won't tell you what to believe, or what is the "correct" way to perceive an issue. However, it will help inform your own perspective so that rather than accepting the first thing you see as fact, you'll think about who is saying it.
Following that line, Bias Finder is not intended to say whether a source is trustworthy or not. Just because a news site has a bias rating of left or right doesn't mean it's any less accurate than a site located in the center, or vice versa. Rather, it just tells you how the analysis is likely to be shaped by political opinions and biases. Two completely factual stories may have very different perspectives:

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it doesn't seem to work. I expect it to just show the bias in the extension icon in the toolbar but it doesn't. When I click the extension icon it reads "It looks like this site doesn't have a bias listing" and then I search for it and it takes me to their website which then shows the rating there. Not a good user experience if the data isn't easily displayed.
I've gone to this Allsides website, mostly shows Left and Right is fairly accurate. However, just go to their site and view there. Why let this org read your browsing history? For what? Don't download any useless extension that tracks you.
Very useful. The way to tell whether a bias reporting site is useful is to see how it handles known partisan outlets. Certain ones are obviously tilted. Far out sites should be reported as such. If people on the left say the extension's editors are "favoring the right" and people on the right say the opposite, you're on the right track.
I like this, its helping me form my own opinion. However I do not think it covers the board completely. There are satirical news sites, I think there should be an "S" category. I think this would aid those who read the headlines a bit more informed. Especially if they don't know its a satirical site.
Does exactly what it needs to do. Keep in mind that the data and ratings are not determined by this extension. The rating are simply displayed here.
Seems to be the only decent bias checker extension on the entire chrome store. Congrats.
Not terribly accurate. For instance: CNN is apparently in the center. (Waaa) Buzzfeed is only *slightly* left, apparently. Not to mention, most of the time, it doesn't even detect you're on a site.
This extension is pretty much required these days, in the same way that HTTPS Everywhere is required. Developer is extremely responsive and transparent
CNN in the Center??? You gotta be kidding me.
Good tool in the tool box.
