Google Dictionary's extension works on far less words and terms (ime) in comparison to Good Word Guide (GWG) / Instant Dictionary since GWG uses multiple sources instead of just their (Instant) dictionary (e.g., for certain terms, an excerpt and link to Wikipedia's page on the term might be what comes up), whereas Google Dictionary's extension likely won't have anything for it. One thing I do however like more about Google's is how you can double click any word that's in their definitions, and it will take you to THAT word's definition (the same way both extensions work on whatever website you're on). With the definition that pops up when you double click a word using Instant Dictionary, double-clicking another word in that definition WON'T then take you to that word's definition the way the Google Dictionary extension does. Instant Dictionary does at least include hyperlinked synonyms that take you to each one's definition. Also, with Instant Dictionary, it isn't ideal compared to the way Google Dictionary is, but you can at least highlight a word (i.e., drag cursor method or double click), right click it, then left click "Search dictionary for" and it will take you to the GWG dictionary full page with the definition (not the small popup box). It's much smoother with Google Dictionary. I also wish Instant Dictionary offered pronunciation for everything. Given that AI exists, I partially feel like it should... I would gladly add a star or two to my rating if either improvement is made.

Good replacement for Google's discontinued dictionary that easily shows the definitions of a double clicked word on webpages. Word prefer an option for a dark theme. One website I know that doesn't work is Google Chrome store for some reason, I don't know why.

I came here because google chrome disabled MV2 extensions and so the Google Dictionary is unsupported. But the claim better than Google Dictionary is simply wrong as there is no shortcut like Alt+G to search from anywhere. (This is must for me). Other than that the ability to change font, background color, or different layouts (like concise mode) would be a great feature.

The extension doesn't work with PDF files. If you open PDF file via Chrome, then the extension doesn't work, I have activated the option "Allow access to file URLs", but just doesn't work in PDF files I'd greatly appreciate fixing the issue
