Converts an image to PNG before showing the Save As dialog.
WebP is a new image format developed by Google. These images are small, but their format is not widely recognized yet. By converting the image to PNG, you will be able to use it in image editing programs, and/or upload it to online image hosting sites such as imgur.
The extension has a low footprint: It does not use any memory or CPU unless you use it by clicking on the context menu option.
Original release date: 3 Augustus 2013.
Update (4 January 2014): If you use Chrome 30 or lower, then you cannot save the image from some web sites (such as the Chrome Web Store). Update to Chrome 31 for an optimal user experience.
Notice (30 June 2014): Chrome 35 on KDE (Linux) has a bug that causes Chrome to crash whenever the Save As dialog is opened by an extension. Downgrade to Chrome 34 or upgrade to Chrome 36 to solve the problem.

First off I love this app, but I'm giving it 2 stars because with it enabled, if you do a search in the address bar it'll redirect you to a Yahoo search, NOT google (even when my default search engine is set to be Google). Soon as I turned it off, my searches are back to Google. So just a heads up if you were wondering why your searches were going to yahoo.

Generally what Chris (the guy below me) said. You all wouldn't be here if that idiot Bagon was actually right, in that Webp is full adopted. News flash: it still ain't after all these years ever since it came into existence around 2010. 16 years later and still bare minimum compatibility. If it took even Firefox to support it only 7 years ago and Safari 6 years, then you know how bad it is. Only Chrome and other Google services would have full support for it. Can't say the same for many other platforms, browsers and legacy programs/apps (even modern ones). Meanwhile, there will always be a place for universal formats i.e. JPG/PNG, while WebP is just something Google is trying to play the hegemony game with. Whether or not it actually succeeds in becoming universal someday is up to them (if they don't dissolve/go bankrupt before then or even after then). Until then, use things and formats like these like the rest of us normal people. As for the extension itself, would be helpful if it had an option to auto save in the last location instead of keep opening up the save window every single time. And also it won't work in incognito mode, even though I enabled the option in settings. Would've been nice. I like the fact that it's simple with just PNG format, unlike other extensions. And unlike the other Save Image As PNG one (the one that has 4.2 stars), this doesn't bug you for ratings. At least I don't think since I rated this right after installing.
It works. It's worked for years with zero issues. Anyone complaining about it is wrong. The one guy who thinks webp is adopted enough that this is useless is obviously dumb. Thank you.

Absolutely the perfect substitute for the Save image as type
It works without nags or anything else. It's the best I've tried.
