Have you ever clicked on a website's "contact us" email link, only to find out that nothing happens when you click on it?
Or maybe it opens an email client like iCloud email on your Apple MacOs device, or Microsoft Outlook on your Windows device?
It's an annoyance that doesn't need to happen at all. With this extension, you'll be able to set Gmail (or your G Suite account) as your default email client anytime you click on an email address that you find online.
This extension is great for:
✅ Large organizations that use Google Workspace to ensure that all your employees compose emails from their work emails and not accidentally sent from employees' private email accounts (ie. iCloud, Outloook.com, or other Gmail email).
✅ Gmail users who just don't like using other email clients other than their Gmail email client.

With all the changes to the chromium world, many of the mailto extensions have stopped working. However, the cloudHQ app works. It does so by opening a tab of gmail, then opening a compose window within gmail. I don't like that it opens the entirety of gmail. But right now, this is the only extension I can find that will process a mailto link.
Nareszcie, z godzinę się męczyłem aby ustawić gmaila i się nie udało a to rozszerzenie załatwiło sprawę w kilka sekund.
I wish these reviews would have come up in google searches, it would have saved me an hour! I use Arc Browser, and after installing gmail-Mailto by CloudHQ, viola, when clicking mailto: links my pinned gmail tab pops up, opens an email for compose, and I'm good to go. Excellent! Thank you!
Having it open Gmail in a new tab is only working for me if I already have gmail open. The first time I click an email link it opens Gmail in a new tab. If I click it again, it composes a new email and fills in the email. I have gone into the extension settings and set a preferred email etc. If I set it to open the link in a new window, it works.
Fantastic, exactly what I needed!
Works well. However in the Chrome Developer Console it prints out the following message so that disturbs my development experience on my own apps quite a bit: [Deprecation] Listener added for a synchronous 'DOMNodeInserted' DOM Mutation Event. This event type is deprecated (https://w3c.github.io/uievents/#legacy-event-types) and work is underway to remove it from this browser. Usage of this event listener will cause performance issues today, and represents a risk of future incompatibility. Consider using MutationObserver instead. The incriminated file is main_gmail_mailto_impl.js:168
I think this is a very useful extension for Chrome that allows you to set Gmail as your default email client for all email links on the web. For me this extension made my Gmail my default email app, ensuring that I never missed an email again.
It worked fine, but it caused the compose function in Gmail to be EXTREMELY slow, so I will have to disable and remove it. I tested by disabling and enabling and it was definitely this extension.
doesn't work for me. and refreshed all my tabs right after install without warning me
