I liked this extension until I realized the performance effect it was having on my browser. For example, if I am running 80 windows with 1300 tabs (don't shame me!), Chrome startup goes from under 15 seconds to over 5 minutes when this extension is enabled. After I disabled this extension, I realize how badly it had been affecting my browser's overall performance.
Great extension that answers a question I have been curious about. Helped me realize I have WAY too many tabs open and need to cut it down. Would be cool to see a feature where you can see the top 5 or 10 domains you have open and how many tabs of each of those you have.
Does not scale up well, becomes extremely laggy at high numbers of tabs. I have 2600 tabs. While enabled, this extension will cause the act of closing/opening a tab to make the browser freeze for about 4 seconds. Additionally, starting up the browser with this extension enabled will cause it to show a black screen (which cannot be interacted with) for about 50 minutes for me (30 seconds or so without it). While it is doing this, it uses 100% of a CPU core; I have a Ryzen 9 9900X, which has one of the highest single-thread speeds on the market. Unacceptably slow. Should work fine for a lower tab count, but most other tab counter extensions would work for that.
Was great all those years and it is still but now that Firefox have Groups for Tabs it would be cool to have the same counter for it as I plan to move most of tabs to it. I hope the dev can make it for Firefox also, it would be the first one to count tabs, groups, pinned, etc. PLEASE!
~~Used to work well, but now it stops updating the badge until it's clicked after a while. On version 1.3.5.~~ It's been working well since then on 1.3.6 though.
You have to click the icon to see the true number of total tabs. It does not update the number on its own.
Version 1.3.4 - The same bug. DOEN'T WORK. From Version 1.3.3 (from 11 February 2025) it stopped working properly. It counts the open tabs correctly, but shows "0" (zero) in the pin. I need to open its window to see the actual number. Not good, not at all. Current window open tabs: 55 Current window pinned tabs: 0 CHROME: Version 109.0.5414.120 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Does what it says on the tin
the recent update broke the tab counter and reset my all-time tabs and custom color. very sad.
theres a bug its not counting tabs correctly. i deleted a lot and it still said i had like 100 open. please fix
