A powerful optical character recognition (OCR) extension to capture and convert images to text
This extension adds a toolbar button to your browser to perform OCR. When this action button is pressed, it allows the user to select a region in the currently active window. The extension captures the area and tries to recognize text inside this region using the internal powerful OCR engine (Tesseract engine). This extension uses the "tesseract.js" library that supports more than 100 languages, automatic text orientation, and script detection.
This extension loads the JS library on the page and removes it when you are done. This way, there is no long-term resource usage.
Notes:
1. On the first run, the extension might take a few minutes to fetch the training data from the internet. Since this resource is cached, all subsequent calls are going to be fast.
2. Optical character recognition (OCR) is slow, so this extension displays a progress bar for each detection module.

Absolutely amazing! I was skeptical before trying out, but it works almost flawlessly - makes tiny mistakes here and there, but those are easy to find and fix.

Je avais installée une première fois cette extension, et après quelques captures de texte, elle avait parfois du mal. Une indication de son état réel aurait été intéressante, car elle reste très perfectible comme extension (comme la détection automatique de la langue qui a le mérite d'exister mais souffre de difficultés par moments : confondre le japonais et le javanais, c'est surprenant ;)). Après avoir essayé beaucoup d'autres extensions, qui sont souvent intrusives, peu ont réussi à me satisfaire. J'ai donc retéléchargé cette extension qui semblait plus méritante. En y regardant de plus près, je me suis aperçu qu'elle utilisait l'intelligence artificielle et qu'il y a sûrement une courbe d'apprentissage suivant les modèles utilisés avec le temps. Au final, je suis content pour le moment de cette extension. Bravo et continuez à travailler dessus. L'interface n'est pas la plus belle, mais c'est l'outil indispensable qui devrait être intégré dans Chrome, et surtout dans Chrome OS (quand on pense qu'Apple l'intègre de base dans son OS ;)). Bravo au développeur donc. Attention, cet outil fonctionne correctement mais a besoin d'une courbe d'apprentissage semble-t-il et peut encore être amélioré. Il suffit de le savoir pour l'apprécier.

help, I really Like this extension, but whenever I want to use it on a pdf I get the error: * Cannon Access contents of the page. Extension manifest must request permission to acces the respective host* I have tried to find a way to resolve it yet every answer talks about programming errors I do not understand
Do I give this one start or 5? It works like a charm and perfectly on vivaldi. Unfortunately, on Brave it isn't able to load the training data and just sits there with "loading language traindeddata" (sic) indefinitely.
This is very good extension, it works perfectly. I dont know why it does not have many users.
