OpenTabs uses a search bar on the new-tab page to enable users to save trees simply by searching the web.
🎯 Our mission
With OpenTabs, we made an active decision to save existing trees rather than planting new ones. You might be wondering why this matters or why we made this decision when other well-known companies have chosen to plant new ones. To put it simply, compelling studies show that planting trees won’t be enough to tackle climate change and that efforts on rainforest conservation lead to a more sustainable and lasting change.

Hi! I've newly added the chrome extension and I'm currently having some trouble using the search bar. Tt keeps routing me to the OpenTabs website instead of searching for my inquiry. I can only use the search function at the top of the browser to be able to actually search. Additionally, the settings I've put the page in (like turning it to a clock and adding my name) disappears when I open a new tab/window. Unsure if this is a bug, hoping to get feedback on this from the devs. Thanks!
Whenever I open a new tab, I want my cursor to appear in the URL box at the top of the browser. Instead, the cursor ALWAYS appears in the OpenTabs search box, and it was driving me up the wall!! I switched to Tero (the new re-branded version of OpenTabs), and thankfully, my cursor goes where I want it to. So I'm keeping the Tero extension now, and have uninstalled OpenTabs.
Ya no funciona, o al menos eso parece, al menos desde marzo de 2023 It no longer works, or at least it seems that way, at least since March 2023
Sounds like a great idea but it doesn't work on Opera. I can't use New Tab Start Page to make it work because I can't find the URL, and I can't use keyboard shortcuts either because that just doesn't work, period.

i rate it 3 stars since even though i logged in my account my account wasnt logged in and when i tried logging it in the whole website just crashed so i needed to remove the whole extension
I saved lots of trees but then it broke so after reinstalling it it worked again but broke quickly please solve i'm removing for now. Great concept though and it was very fun while it lasted.
This extension offers a seamless experience and doesn't slow down the search process. I've been using it for more than 180 days and I've planted more than 400 trees just by simply doing what I would be doing without this extension. The team behind this extension is working hard to constantly add new features/widgets to add value to the experience. I've recommended this extends to all my friends and I definitely recommend it to you.
