For millennia, Latin scholars have faced a ruinous obstacle: they've had to switch between two Chrome tabs to look up definitions. No longer—Definitus aids you in translating Latin text. Pulling data from Whittaker's Words, Definitus can be used as a pop up window for on the fly definitions. Or, if the going gets tough, activate In-Depth Mode to extract the Latin from your webpage, enable hover-able translations, and define any word on command. Fortitudo facilis; scientia difficilis est.
This Extension is free and open-source. It costs us up to $10 a month to keep our OCR (text extraction from image) server running, so if you'd like to support the extension please feel free to Venmo a couple dollars to @Jamie-Gabbay-1 with the note "Definitus." Thanks!

Downloaded this on a whim because my friend recommended it–honestly had no idea that translating latin text could be so simple. I absolutely love the screenshot feature, it helps me a lot when dealing with particularly difficult words. The nature of the development of the extension and conscious design choices somehow make translating latin text... fun! Still can't believe that my friend stumbled upon this, but definitely recommend for anyone even remotely interested in latin texts. From Homer's works, to your simple latin homework, Definitus is definitively the best latin translation tool I have used (much more effective than Google's clunky and inaccurate translation service...) Highly reccomend!
Super useful for anyone studying latin. Takes the outdated and clunky whitaker's words and adds a lot of new functionality. The OCR(image to text) is especially helpful since many online latin resources are pictures of books. 11/10. Must have for Whitaker's Words enjoyers.
