tbr – Tab Budget Reminder helps you monitor open tabs and respond before tab overload becomes difficult to manage.

The extension shows your current tab count in the popup and lets you choose custom warning and danger thresholds. As the number of open tabs increases, tbr can provide progressively stronger visual feedback so the change is noticeable early.

Available warning options include badge color changes, a page border warning on the active page, and dynamic icon color.

When a new tab is opened while the tab count is already at or above the danger threshold, tbr can also open a dedicated warning window. This gives you a clear moment to decide whether to keep the new tab or close it immediately.

All functionality runs locally in your browser. The extension stores your warning settings in browser storage and does not use a remote backend or send your tab data to an external server.

This extension is designed for people who want a visible live tab count, configurable tab-limit thresholds, stronger reminders as tab count grows, and a simple local-first tool for managing tab sprawl.
