Google Scholar profiles show limited summary metrics but lack detailed per-publication analytics. Scholar Spots solves this by automatically fetching each publication's detailed data (type classification, per-year citation breakdown, author count) and presenting it through interactive visualizations that help researchers, students, and academics quickly analyze a scholar's publication history, citation trends, and research impact.

User navigates to any Google Scholar profile page (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=...). The content script detects the profile, reads the publication table, then sends requests via the background script to fetch each publication's detailed page from Scholar. Data is parsed for type, authors, and yearly citations, then visualizations (bubble charts, word clouds) are rendered inline on the page. Results are cached in local storage to reduce repeated requests.

No external API calls to confirm - all data fetching is to scholar.google.com using plain fetch()
