Using this extension, researchers can get Altmetric score for research papers in Google Scholar and PubMed search results.
Altmetric score is an indicator of how impactful and influential, a particular paper is. It is complementary to traditional, citation-based metrics.
Altmetric score can help researchers understand where and why a piece of research is being discussed and shared, both among other scholars and in the public sphere.
For e.g., they can see how a particular paper is being covered in the news, blogs and Twitter.
Inspect the latest comments and rating distribution.

Sorry to say Altmetric no longer has an public api (as of Nov 2025), so unless you can get the rare exception, all Altmetric free public tools are gone. You can add a link URL+DOI on PubMed page so users can still get the scores and more with a click, they just can't see the score on the PubMed page. This is the work-around I use, so still room for a single use Altmetric extension, if you provide the link.
Insane!!! Loved the idea and the result. No hassle in finding good journals with high alt metric scores by going to every single webpages and with hundreds of opening tabs in Chrome😍. Thank you for this awesome extension. One suggestion, Browser compatibility: Firefox, Brave are two most common browsers nowadays due to their more secure browsing. I don't think neglecting those will be a great idea. Anyway, hope this remains open-source in future also. GOOD LUCK!!!
Very nice and insightful extension, it directly gave me alt metric scores on my google scholar search results.
