ZoomTube is a lightweight extension that adds precise zoom and intuitive pan controls to YouTube’s desktop player.
Use your mouse wheel to zoom in/out and drag the video to move the viewport.
It works in fullscreen and preserves the last zoom and position across YouTube’s SPA navigation.
The current zoom percentage is shown on a compact control button, and double-clicking that button resets scale and position to default.

Excellent extension! ZoomTube works very well for moving the video with the mouse and zooming in and out using the scroll wheel. However, it’s missing just one feature to make it perfect: a few keyboard shortcuts. It would be great to have: A shortcut to enable/disable the zoom function (the same as clicking the zoom percentage button). A shortcut to reset the zoom (the same as double-clicking the button). Shortcuts to zoom in and out (for example, + and -). Arrow keys to move the zoomed image. These shortcuts would be very useful for streaming platforms like Apple TV+, Disney+, and others where the ZoomTube button doesn’t appear over the video. Thank you for this great plugin, and please consider adding these shortcuts in a future update. I would really appreciate it! Ah, and thanks for the quick fix of the button position that got misaligned with the new YouTube interface, and especially for finding a way to prevent YouTube’s vertical scrolling from being triggered while the pan and zoom function is active. That fix made a big difference and now the mouse wheel correctly controls zoom only, without accidentally bringing up YouTube’s thumbnail bar. Much appreciated!
