Synology Image Assistant Extension enhances your browsing experience. It supports displaying mainstream formats, including HEIC and HEVC. With this extension, image previews and compressed videos are automatically generated when files are uploaded or viewed across browsers.

Synology Image Assistant Extension needs to be used in conjunction with its desktop app. Find it under our Download Center (https://www.synology.com/support/download) > select your model > Desktop Utilities.

Users are a lot smarter than Synology is giving them credit for, and it's super-obvious to anyone with a brain Synology jsut doesn't want to pay for the codecs to run on the NAS anymore. It's ridiculous to have to install a background application on the PC and browser extension in each browser, just to get exactly the same functionality which used to reside on my NAS. This is yet another example of a company retroactively changing the features of a product I purchased from them a long time ago.

Das jetzt eine Extension und Tools für HEIC / HEIV Bilder für die Photostation benötigt werden ist nicht zu verstehen (hat bis jetzt immer gut funktioniert). Wer auch immer diese Entscheidung bei Synology getroffen hat, sollte sich mal fragen warum Kunden die entsprechenden Diskstations (+ Varianten) gekauft haben. Da immer mehr Features gestrichen / extrem verändert werden, macht es fast keinen Sinn mehr eine Appliance zu kaufen. Da kann man sich dann das NAS mit Linux bzw. entsprechender Distri selbst zusammen stellen. Die Chrome-Extension hat den Vorteil, das diese direkt läuft. Unter Mac im Safari ist die Extension nicht signiert und kann nur genutzt werden indem unsigniert Extensions erlaubt werden.
