Use Charcoal to experience Messenger (messenger.com) in dark mode. Toggling dark mode with any theme is easy: click on the Messenger icon on the top left of the web page, and set your preference.
Features:
Messenger icon toggle on the top left of the web page to access preferences.
Choose between 3 themes: Charcoal, Midnight, and Deep Blue.
Change dark or light appearance whenever you want, or set dark mode based on your device's setting.

It's amazing and works great on Messenger.com per 19/05/2024 - should've just been included in Messenger in the first place.
With the extension on Messenger does not even load.

Very good extension if you don't want to download the dedicated messenger app. This extension does its job perfectly.
Bug seems to be fixed now - my preferred method of making messenger less blindingly bright - how this isn't a default option is beyond me
Here's a fix for the white incoming message background problem: -Delete or disable this extension -Install the Stylus extension -When the Messenger website is opened, open Stylus, click "find styles", sort by installs -Choose a style - "Messenger Dark", the most popular one, works out of the box -If you want to use a style that doesn't work right now but you like it more, you can fix it yourself by editing the style - search for the line containing "chat-incoming-message-bubble-background-color" and add "!important" at the end of the line before the semicolon. The line should look like this "--chat-incoming-message-bubble-background-color: #303030!important;" -Stylus also has the advantage that you can find a style that suits you best, or if you're a power user you can modify the colors yourself to your liking
please dev fix the bug. Now the chat bubbles is pitch white. For that cant real the message because the message is also in white and for that it blends in with the chat bubble.
The app was great in pre-2024. Recently new changes in the app cause chat bubbles to come up white and it makes this extension unusable. 😔
Chats are white, I can't read them.
