I have searched long and hard for a text-to-speech tool that is amazing and not overpriced. And this is it!! I have tried over 40 different tools and struggled with exorbitant monthly or weekly fees, robotic voices unless premium AI subscriptions are paid for, and very tight limits on listening time or words per day. By Readvox solves all of that - even with just a free account - you are off to the races. Can't recommend this enough - I will be upgrading to pro.

I love that it is literally point and click. I opened up a kindle cook and started it reading. The only CON that I can see is that the voices seemed blown out a bit. Meaning that if not balanced in the EQ just right, it almost sounds like it's blowing the speakers. Overall, one of the better ones I have seen, but could still use some improvement.

I like the voices, and i like that it highlights the sentence it's currently reading. Those are pretty much the only good things this extension offers. The pronunciation really needs work. It'd come across abbreviated words like "it'd" and read it as "it D" as in, the letter D. Same with "it'll", it'd read "it L L". How can it mess up basic grammar like that?. All of this, only to be interrumpted every two paragraphs by AN AD!!! I'm talking a stream of constant ads whenever you need to read a long document. There are TTS extensions out there that are actually free.

The free tier is unusable, every minute you get an break which makes it useless.. The plans are not reasonable either. Gemini pro ai is free for students for a year. Ill switch to another extension that doesnt bother you each minute when trying to study.

I've been looking for a free tts extension that would actually work on my ~60k manuscript documents, and this is the absolutely best by far. When I hear a mistake, I can click and correct it without affecting the narration! A miracle! The array of voices is truly incredible, and I love that I can pick one that sounds right for my book. I took off one star because sometimes words run together (Ex. "Just us" turned into "Justis") , and the voices don't recognize em dashes (which I use liberally in my writing) or ellipses. It also seems to stop after each chapter which isn't a big deal, but if I'm doing something like cleaning, it can be annoying to go press play after each chapter. Sometimes freezes up between pages too. Lastly, I know this is an English narration, but I do wish it could recognize Hispanic names. It keeps reading my Mexican characters' names in an aggressively American way (Aa-lay-jawn-droh lol). That being said, the AI voice does a great job tackling my made-up language and names. Even the pauses to advertise the premium are minimal and to the point. Honestly, if this thing works this well for the entire 60k doc, I'll pay for premium.
