Found Treedent a little confusing to use, and couldn't find instructions anywhere! No "help" section on the website or anything like that. So it's hard to give it a fair review as I may have completely misunderstood how to use it (although I'm generally pretty competent with technology so if I'm getting it wrong then I can guarantee others will too). As far as I could tell, this doesn't work the way I was expecting at all. I spent a lot of time clicking on things and finding they didn't do what I thought they would, trying to work out what the point was in certain features, and trawling through the settings trying to figure out if I was missing some setting that would make things work a certain way (bearing in mind that with some of the settings it's not really clear what they even do!). One thing I found frustrating is that the sidebar only show the tabs for the current window, I'd love it if it showed a tree structure with all the current Chrome windows on one view, this would make it much easier to move tabs between windows and see everything I've got open in one place. Old tabs I've closed still show as "folders" in the sidebar (but some old tabs don't show there and it wasn't clear why, I think it may be that only "parent" tabs of other tabs get saved as "folders"?), but these are literally just placeholders at that point, if you click on them nothing happens, and there doesn't seem to be any way to find out the website address or get back to that site (I had to manually search for the title of a site on Google to get back to something I'd previously opened). That's just a couple of the reasons I've given up on this extension and will keep looking for better way to manage my tabs! For now I'll stick to Tabs Outliner, it's not perfect but it's closer to what I need than Treedent seems to be. Apologies to the developer if I have misrepresented your extension, but if that's the case you need clearer information about how to get the best out of Treedent!

This is a very clear improvement to how Chromium-based browsers handle tabs. I have noticed some minor incompatibilities with some other tab management extensions(notably JoinTabs/bjmimocndihpmdoelbiilpkkfkppikap when I click that one's button) but I think it's more likely a problem with the other extension. But I am colorblind, and so I have reduced ability to distinguish what tabs' icons are. That means the tree-style tab view is SO SO SO helpful, and I appreciate it more than I can convey. I wish that browser manufacturers would make this the default. I would love to see this become the standard tab management method in Chromium-based browsers. Without question, I am keeping this extension.

Hi! I discovered Treedent through a Reddit thread, and I was genuinely excited: this is exactly the kind of tool I’ve been looking for: a way to organize tabs into folders and subfolders. However, my experience so far has been unstable. Twice now, after closing and reopening my browser, the entire structure has disappeared. All the tabs remain open, but the folder hierarchy is lost: everything becomes flattened into a single list. I haven’t found any settings related to backup or sync, and that’s a major concern. It’s unclear where the data (tab/folder structure) is stored, whether it’s saved locally, or if it can be backed up or restored. Being able to trust that the hierarchy won’t vanish is essential for using Treedent seriously. Below are a few observations and suggestions that might help improve the extension: 🧩 Browser & Environment Browser: Vivaldi 7.6.3797.63 Performance: occasionally feels heavy or laggy 💡 Suggestions & UX feedback Data persistence: clarify where the structure is stored and ensure it’s reliably saved between sessions. Folder icons: allow using emojis as folder icons. Drag and drop: could be smoother and more predictable. New folders/tabs: currently, new folders often open in the outermost layer. It would be great to have shortcuts or an option to create them at the current hierarchy level. Tab switching: when closing a tab, Treedent jumps to a tab near the root instead of the one above, it would be more natural to go to the next sibling or parent. Empty space behavior: clicking an empty area in the panel creates a new tab; please let users disable or customize this. Context menu: the right-click menu in the sidebar feels bulky; too many items are shown at once. Grouping options into nested layers (e.g. under Discard > ...) would make it cleaner. Overall design: the UI feels visually heavy and takes several clicks for common actions. Simplifying interactions and reducing friction would make it much more enjoyable to use. --- Did i use chat to polish this? yes. Finally something that almost brings everything that I liked in Tree Style Tabs in FF. Thank you! I wish the side bar would automatically open on starting Chrome, but in general it is a great extension.
Has the potential to be a great Chrome alternative for Sidebery! Missing the ability to collapse and open on hover, which VertiTab has done by injecting into the page instead of using the sidebar only.
