📌 What is the Process Feedback extension?
The Process Feedback extension is for teachers and students. It pulls the edit history of a Google Docs document and turns that history into a writing process report.
In the process report, you can explore copy-paste events, the frequency and timing of breaks taken, typing fluency, time spent on each paragraph, time allocated to revision compared to initial drafting, and total typing time.
✨ Key Features:

Best of these tools we've tried--not even close!
So helpful in reviewing a student's writing process!
As a high school English teacher in the age of AI, this is a god send. Huge fan and recommend it to all other teachers
By far the best of these kinds of tools that I've worked with, and FREE on top of that. Thank you for providing. It's essential in this age of AI tools. It's helping me keep my students honest about their work.
Very useful for many purposes. Sharing the report with students so helpful when they're reflecting on their work. They can see their own patterns of workflow, any problem areas like pasting a paragraph and then trying to edit it into their own words, how long they actually spent on each section, etc. It's also very helpful as a teacher. Excellent resource!
Such a great resource. We are bombarded new applications, extensions, and programs that have limited function necessitating the use of multiple vendors. I think Process Feedback is the most comprehensive and it certainly has the most interesting and useful variety of views of the data it provides. I am constantly trying to validate my student's work without spending my own money to do so. Other vendors subscription models and the limits of those models make it really untenable for a classroom teacher to use them for their whole class for the whole year. With this -- no sign in and very little limit on the current free version. I'd pay for this level of access if it was reasonable and had as few limits as this current version has.
Really interesting breakdown of data for teachers and anyone else who wants to analyze the writing process of a document. Helpful for me as a teacher to see when groups of students were working on the same document who did what, who pasted what, and how long each students spent on said document. It even allows you to compare an earlier version of the document to a later version side-by-side. Totally recommend!
Very helpful tool for using in the classroom in the age of AI. Especially helpful for group projects too to see who wrote what. Thoughtful reports that can also track the editing of a document and look at versions side-by-side as they are built.
Excellent aid in helping to detect students using AI for writing. The log of all items that were copied and pasted into the document is a game changer! Love Process Feedback!
