AI 产品解读Markdown file viewer/renderer extension that displays rendered Markdown directly in the browser
Browsers cannot natively render Markdown files - they display raw text. This extension intercepts Markdown files and renders them as formatted HTML with styling, similar to how they would appear on GitHub.
User installs extension. When navigating to a .md file URL (local or remote), the extension detects the Markdown file, fetches the content, parses it using the selected compiler, renders it with the chosen theme, and injects the styled HTML into the page. The popup allows quick switching of themes, compilers, and content options. The options page manages origin permissions and advanced settings.

The extension is explicitly described as 'Free and Open Source' in the store listing. No payment platforms, billing APIs, subscription logic, or feature gating found. All 30+ themes, multiple compilers, and all features (MathJax, Mermaid, syntax highlighting, ToC, emoji) are freely available. All 'pro' keyword matches are false positives (Promise objects, CSS properties).

- No login or authentication flow exists. The extension works directly with local files (file:///*) and optionally remote URLs without any account requirement. Settings sync uses chrome.storage.sync (Chrome's built-in sync), not an external account. All keyword matches ('token', 'jwt', 'auth') are false positives from markdown tokenization functions and vendor library references.
I can't figure out how to make it work. I open a local markdown file in a chrome tab, click the Markdown Viewer extension icon and I can Click "Markdown Viewer" which just takes me back to the extension page on the web store. I can go to options. But it doesn't look anything like the picture in your sample and nowhere do I see how to render my markdown doc. I don't doubt you have that functionality somewhere in here but I have to give a low rating because it lacks an intuitive interface and documentation to make it work. Sorry, I'd be happy to improve my rating if it's improved.
Awesome productivity tool if you keep your notes in MD. I only have one feature ask: GitHub added Task Lists to their flavor. That would be super nice. https://github.com/blog/1825-task-lists-in-all-markdown-documents
Tried several markdown viewers, this is the best by far!
试了几个类似的软件,只有这个转pdf格式没有出错
Love the fact that you don't need to give it the permissions on all the websites you visit. Cheers!
I've tried a few markdown extensions and this one works best, minus the emoji, thanks! Note: Took me a sec to realize that "Make sure that the Allow access to file URLs checkbox is checked for the Markdown Viewer extension" doesn't count as special permissions.
有用, 不过需要看文档配置一下.
Perfect. Provides many styles, including github. Parses everything correctly.
Simple and the best ever for Markdown
The best of those that I found. Though themes don't work
