This extension tries to mimic the ALT+TAB behavior from Windows(or Command+TAB in Mac) to allow to switch between open tabs in a Most Recently Used fashion.
It remembers the order in which you switched tabs (made a tab active) and it updates its records so that you can switch to the recently used ones quickly.
Note: Sometimes after updating the extension the keyboard shortcut settings get reset. Hence you might want to set the desired keyboard shortcuts again in the keyboard shortcut settings in the Chrome Extensions page.
Alternatively, navigate to chrome://extensions/shortcuts from your address bar to change shortcuts.

Switch between tabs in the most recently used order, can be configured to use Ctrl+Tab as a shortcut
Cycle through your most recently used tabs (MRU) like Alt+Tab, but, with the shortcut keys Ctrl+Q or Ctrl+`(~) or assign your own!
Switch back to the previously active tab using the keyboard.
Cycle through last used Chrome tabs using keyboard shortcut (Alt+Q).
Use the shortcut <Alt + Q> (or define your own) to switch between your two last used tabs. Requires a one-time payment.
⚡ Instantly switch between your two most recent tabs with Alt+Q. Like Alt+Tab for windows, but for Chrome tabs!
Dear Developer, Thank you for creating CLUT. I have been playtesting version 2.1 recently and wanted to share some constructive feedback. Software evolution is infinite, and even highly useful tools can always be refined and optimised further. The core concept of mapping tabs using a three-point anchor system is an excellent foundation. The underlying switching logic works well, but there are a few minor adjustments that could elevate the overall user experience and streamline the system. During my testing, I noticed an occasional bug where an entirely unrelated window is pulled into focus. This seems particularly noticeable when using the Alt+S and Alt+Shift+S shortcuts, which currently feel a bit unpredictable compared to the primary quick switch. Additionally, the inclusion of a slower switch and a reverse direction might be slightly redundant for a standard workflow. Simplifying the extension by focusing on a single, highly reliable shortcut could make it much more intuitive. A potential solution could be to resolve the window-focusing bug in Alt+S and adopt its pacing as the primary switching speed, as the Alt+W quick switch can sometimes feel a bit too rapid. I really appreciate the effort and time you have put into this project to replicate such an essential workflow feature. I hope these suggestions are helpful for your next round of updates.
Working well for me, what makes it different than other extensions is that it has double press for the second last used recent tab which is really useful!
太棒了, 這就是我想要的.
Stops working... All the time
You might want to install it directly from source for safety reasons or due to your company restrictions: (1) git clone https://github.com/harshayburadkar/clut-chrome-extension.git (2) Go to chrome://extensions/ (3) Enable "Developer mode" (toggle) (4) Click "Load unpacked" (5) Select the clut-chrome-extension folder you just cloned. Done.
Huge productivity booster
Does not work. Command+TAB on Mac triggers Mac application cycle.
Quite good. But it only switches to the tab that has previously been pulled in foreground. If you only activate a tab (in a different window) this won't be recognized as a tab to switch to. 🤷🏼♂️
Most useful extension I have used. Been using this for years now. Google should just add this feature by default.
finally, the extension i had been looking for all my life!
