High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Demonstrates the chrome.fontSettings API by allowing users to modify the style of displayed fonts on web pages.
Right-click on anything with a "longdesc" or "aria-describedat" attribute to access its long description.
Browse the text of web pages using arrow keys.
Switch to night mode and the display is much easier on your eyes!
A customisable colour filter applied to web pages to improve colour perception.
It's stopped working with Facebook, with graphical elements of the site becoming 'detached' and left floating around in the middle of the page. AS of 5th April it's still breaking Facebook and Allmusic, among others. Even if this is fixed it would be useful to have some means of turning it off on a per site basis rather than being forced to disable it globally.
I loved it until web pages stopped working. Facebook doesn't function anymore with the plugin enabled. Also, a lot of times the "footer" on a page will get stuck in the middle of the site. I don't mind the photos changing, although it'd be great if there was a way to not change contrast for anything with an img src or video src
Was great until the last update (25/3/12) where problems have arisen. Some sites have had the top bars hang on the screen when scrolling. Other sites haven't had their settings kept, being half inverted. Or even worse, the page has crashed. Before this the extension was working pleasantly, though only some images where kept untouched. Hopefully a swift fix can be implemented
Some people who are non-developer unfortunately don't have notice of how much time the developer spent for developing this app. Little respect, and do not forget that developers are also humans.. Good, costumizable, relevant!
I love this extention, but there is something wrong with the way it works sidebyside pages utilizing javascript it seems. Especially top bar navigation used by many , like ... facebook, online newspapers, what not the bar floats out of place, and travels when scrolling. This floating feature also goes for images. They crack up and hide portions of the page as you scroll. When this hiding happen, it can be worked around by marking the text you want to read with the mouse cursor. :ergo, annoying.
The latest update does not play nice with retina display Macs. I'm used to the gross blurry text in High Contrast setting but it's now spread to all the other settings. Had to disable. :/ If you AREN'T using a retina display this app is perfect.
it messes with the images on as well. but its biggest downfall is that its either on or off you cant create a list of sites that you want it to only work on. (example: google search results pages)
It would be nice if the status bar icon would change when it was active, so I could tell when it was on (for a given site) or not.
Sweet
Not working with 26.0.1410.28 beta on Ubuntu 12.10. Composting issue w/ hardware acceleration & Compiz perhaps? I'd still prefer the convenience of the glitch fixed to having to learn the default hotkey for the compiz filter...
