Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Finally addon that can filter pages where it should be enabled or disabled! LOVE IT!! 5/5 it was driving me mad that the previous addon couldn't do that and I was accidantely going back again and again

Google definitely made a mistake in removing this feature entirely, and this half-assed extension really doesn't make up for it. I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure this just inserts some Javascript on the page that detects if a text box isn't highlighted and goes back in the history. Sometimes this won't work on special pages where JS can't be injected (like images or PDFs). The original feature was baked into Chrome so it had the capability to go back on any page.

This does as is advertised. The 3 star overall rating is due to a lot of people hating on google, not this extension.

This really needs to be a setting. A setting defaulting to "on". Delegating this important keyboard interaction to an extension is severely limiting and adds unneccessary complications to normal browsing.

Good that Google thought of this. Much simpler and faster to use backspace when quick browsing across multiple websites. Understandable that Google removed this as a default option, but doesn't Chrome store data like inputted text temporarily by default? Or does that depend on the website and how it stores it's cookies on a computer? Well, either way, gg with this extension. (Shouldn't this have been a default option in the chrome menu, instead of being an extension?)
