Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.
What's New in 3.0:

* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Doesn't work. I understand why they removed it, but like others I feel that: a. it should be a setting for flag, even if it's buried. b.As a smart person once said, "Couldn't we just watch the DOM for any <input> getting/having a _user initiated_ 'update' (making sure stuff like Angular updating a field doesn't block navigation)?" This doesn't even WORK! It keeps telling me to use some random shortcut, and denies me what I want.
Kind off stupid to install a addon to fix a browser functionality. Rather make it a option in the settings.

Shouldn't need this crap
First: Google should simply add the option to the browser. Second: The extension has a bug which makes the browser ignore backspace in certain text fields. One site where this happens are the battlenet forums. There is a better extension called "Back to backspace" which doesn't have this bug.
Most of users didn't use it or even saw that as a bug. I'm glad that google listened to a small group of nerds and gave us that feature back.
Why remove such an efficient and long established browser function? Just make this a setting you can toggle, dont make us download extensions to get back a basic feature.
Also, found a bug: Tab goes back when you are focused inside an input[type=url] field and hit Cmd+backspace or Option+backspace. Behaviour is normal on other types of input fields - pressing those keys just deletes a word or an entire line. But with URL fields, it makes browser go back.
