This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.
ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.
In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

Searchgpt extension doesn't work in operaGX browser
Great extension! Could you please add option to enable draft mode for searches, otherwise it kill my chats history?
Me gusta, las búsquedas son más directas y no pierdo el tiempo viendo publicidad ni contenido de relleno, definitivamente el mejor buscador, es muy claro y no tiene alucinaciones.
Overall, I think this is a pretty useful tool for people who want complete answers without needing to sift through tons of links and websites. One downside is that it will automatically redirect you to the chatGPT website before generating a response, so if you're trying to get to a website or something, it just extends the time it takes to actually reach your destination. Of course you could always write "!g" before your query, but again, it just uses up more of your time. I will say that the speed of response has dramatically improved, so if you had been using ChatGPT to search things on the internet, this is a big upgrade for you. I do think that this extension has potential, as well as SearchGPT as a whole, but it feels like it's still in its experimental phase. I would rather continue to use my search engine and the openAI website separately, instead of integrating them.

A great extension with great functionality, which for SOME REASON changed the contents of my new tab in Chrome! WHY?! I have to delete it! This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
Interesting move. Very interesting indeed. So far, nice results. I'll keep using it, and see how it goes. That's a spooky Halloween launch! :)

Let’s see how this move plays out for OpenAI. As traditional search engines undermine the open web to boost profits and compete with everyone, these new players have a chance to step in and take over.
