I don't feel like this extension is that much of a game changer. It just does a very simple job. As of Dec 2024, the fact that you can replicate this very same function by going to Google Chrome Settings inside Search Engine -> Add Site Search and Add "Name = ChatGPT Shortcut = @GPT URL=< ChatGPT website here>/?q=%s" makes this extension redundant. When you add the shortcut you can just search with ChatGPT just by adding @gpt in the front of your search text. This method will also give you option to call different sites with different @ tags based on what you want to do at the moment. Only additional feature this has is the Search with ChatGPT Right Click Menu after Text Selection. Basically this might save regular ChatGPT users few milliseconds every time but this being their official extension, should add more features so it is worth the installation and possibly be a gamechanger. If this extension had functionalities such as a Chat within Pop-Up Chat UI without having to go to the website by clicking Extension Icon, Model Selection Dropdown or initiate chat with attachment etc then it would be very useful. Because as of this moment this function could have been done by any developers. As of now, this is just a step that takes users away from Google Search (I understand that is the point). OpenAI Team can do much more with this because they would have end to end control of the flow on how their extension can communicate with their own platform in a way that 3rd party devs cannot. Uninstalling it for now, might revisit later if more functions are added. I use ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity etc interchangably but at this point of time, this is not a Default Search Engine Replacement worthy. Giving it a Mid Rating of 3 Stars since I think there is potential for future.

Does exactly as advertised. Type what you want to know in the address bar and chatgpt will open with the response. Def better than Froogle except for mapping and locational information. It will provide links to get that. It would depend on how you use your browser/google if this is right for you. I know what chatgpt or google will provide and I use AI more. I just have a bookmark for a search engine when I need to see ADs!!

Clutters my chats Does give some relevant results but doesn't give many useful links to real forums and communities I don't mind it replacing Google at all but it should give much more relevant results in a much better visual way For now removed

Not sure why people are mad, the extension is made to replace Google Search. Don't install it if you don't want it, there is no point in getting mad at the extension for doing exactly what it advertise.

Wild. So this extension is the official one I suppose, i got a advert for it on GPTs site. The problem? It replaces Google search actually ( on Chrome it will ask you if you want to allow this change ) . So say you want to find a chrome extension, you actually cant, instead the search results always open to Chat GPT's Open AI's site, with very limited results. In my example case I got one result. Unrelated to the chrome store.... I think Open AI did Zero or limited tests of this. poor results. It would be better, if this was a side panel like many other GPT extensions. A panel that always remained opened and probably could be dragged anyplace in view.... that should be common sense.... Uninstalled.
