Zotero is a free, easy-to-use, open-source tool to help you collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research.

The Zotero Connector automatically senses content as you browse the web and allows you to save items to Zotero with a single click. If a PDF is available, the Connector can save it to your library to read later, and it can even save snapshots of webpages in case they change or disappear. Whether you're searching for a preprint on arXiv.org, a journal article from JSTOR, a news story from the New York Times, or a book from your university library catalog, Zotero has you covered with support for thousands of sites.

Additionally, if you use a web-based proxy to access resources your institution subscribes to, the Zotero Connector can automatically redirect you through the proxy when you follow links to those sites from elsewhere on the web, making sure that you always have access to PDFs and other gated content.

While the Connector can save most pages directly to your zotero.org account, for the full Zotero experience be sure to install the Zotero desktop app, which allows you to organize your references efficiently, insert citations automatically into Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs, and much more. You can download Zotero for free from https://www.zotero.org/download

Zotero has been a godsend! It has saved me hours and hours of typing out a bibliography, double checking APA/MLA formatting, and searching for articles and web pages. Their filing system and search engine are great as well: I can easily access research papers and articles from years ago. It's like my own personal library for research materials. Highly recommend for students and research professionals.

I have a problem of getting Zotero to link up with properly with Chrome - just like other users have commented, too. Zotero's functionalities could be more streamlined even with Firefox. When I used Zotero for Firefox with Mac OS X back in 2012, it actually felt more straightforward.

I find that when i want to use it i can't. Most of the websites i use it doesn't support, i was told that it was useful but it is okay when it works.

It was helpful at first, but then it went wacko and decided to not function properly. The icon on the address bar is missing and when I tried using the right click options, it said it was not open. I'm sad that I had to experience that but if it were to be fixed and updated, I would be the first one to get it.

I love this application because integrates perfectly with reference management systems; export content and save as *.bib in the directory of user directory. Import into tool reference manager is located;I use Docear. Next, import and all pdfs are pulled in pdf directory of your choice.
