View and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files - without needing Office installed on your computer.
Once the extension is installed, Office files that you drag into Chrome, open in Gmail, Google Drive and more will be opened in Docs, Sheets and Slides for viewing and editing.
You can save each file back to its original Office format or convert it to Docs, Sheets or Slides to unlock more features, like inviting others to edit with you, commenting, chatting and more.

Exactly what I was looking for, worked great first time.
I have no idea how to use this. Without this extension, I have been able to open Office files at Google drive. So I expect it could open my files on offline in my computer. But... it doesn't work at all! Clicking icon on google toolbar or dragging files on chrome don't do anything. How could I use this extension? ------------------------ OK. I've got it. This extension 'auto converts' Office files to Google drive files. But I still don't know how to open Office files in my hard drive on offline. Please help me. 어떻게 쓰는지 모르겠어요. 원래부터 PPT랑 엑셀은 구글 드라이브에서 열렸고, 저는 오프라인에서 열 수 있는 방법을 찾고 있었는데... 제 컴퓨터에서 파일을 크롬으로 드래그하거나 오른쪽 위의 툴바 아이콘을 눌러도 별 거 없더군요. 어떻게 작동시키는지를 아예 모르겠어요. ------------------------ 몇가지 실험으로 알아냈습니다. 구글 드라이브에 오피스 파일을 올리면 미리보기만 됐고 수정하려면 새 문서를 만들어서 파일을 열기 했어야 했는데 이게 있으면 바로 수정할 수 있게 되는군요. 하지만 구글 드라이브는 온라인에서만 사용 가능하니 노트북으로 아무때나 쓰기는 좀 힘들어요. 분명히 오프라인에서도 실행 가능하다고 하지 않았나요? 어떻게 해야 하나요?
