AI 产品解读View and edit Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) directly in Chrome using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides as the rendering and editing engine
Allows users to open and work with Microsoft Office documents without having Microsoft Office installed on their computer, using Google's free web-based editors instead
User opens an Office file (by clicking, dragging into Chrome, or via Gmail/Drive). The extension intercepts the file via MIME handler registration, opens it in a tab using its built-in QOWT (Quickoffice Web Toolkit) rendering engine, and presents a basic editor. User can view/edit the file, then save back to Office format or convert to Google Docs/Sheets/Slides format (requires Google Account sign-in for conversion and Drive features).

- 目标用户
- Chrome users who need to view or edit Microsoft Office files without owning Microsoft Office / Users of Google Docs/Sheets/Slides who receive Office format files / Chrome OS users (extension pre-installed)
- The extension's core JS files (mainApp.js, mainQOWT.js) are heavily minified, making deep code flow analysis difficult
- Cannot fully verify whether basic view-only mode works without login from source alone - the sign-in messages are for conversion/copy actions specifically
- Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) may have additional paid tiers but those are external to the extension itself
付费分析未识别到付费功能
No evidence of paid features, subscriptions, payment processing, or upgrade prompts in the extension source. The 'promo' dialogs are for Office Compatibility Mode conversion to Google Docs format (a free feature), not payment-related. No terms like premium, subscription, payment, purchase, billing, or upgrade were found. The keyword matches for 'pro' and 'stripe' are false positives from words like 'process', 'promo' (feature promotion), 'predefined process', and 'diagonal_stripe' (a UI pattern).

- The extension requires a Google Account to perform core workflow actions such as converting Office files to Google Docs/Sheets/Slides format and saving copies to Google Drive. Multiple locale strings confirm this: 'You need to sign in to your Google Account in order to convert this file' and 'You need to sign in to your Google Account in order to make a copy.' The extension uses the 'identity' and 'identity.email' permissions for Google authentication. However, basic viewing of locally-opened Office files may work without login.
It was good before but totally DEAD now and NO SOLUTION can be found, what is going on now?! I have been paying couple of hundred USD every month for Google Business Suite and even this can't be used?!
it won't show anything on brave browser
Totally broken on Chrome for Mac for many months now. How is this an official Google tool and this is the case? Hey team - how about you release the source code for this so I can fix it myself? I've bought into your G Suite ecosystem and am a paying customer, and this is pretty bad. You are one of the biggest companies in the world.
Працює на Windows 7, 10 та на Microsoft Edge!
I don't know why google recommends this addon when it doesnt nothing instead slows down the browsing experience and overall device by consuming more RAM. It never works or allows us to use google docs suite including drive offline or when offline. I wonder if even Google dev or members use this before forcing us to use this? Same with previous similar addon as with this. Plus I cant use this in brave browser. What a shame for a billion dollar company like google.
so good for use....
It quit working in the last few weeks, but I found a workaround that has worked for two different files. If I use the Google Share feature to send myself an email which links to the file, then click on the link from Gmail, it opens in the browser as it used to. I hope they fix this soon.
Used to work great and I loved it, but it has stopped working.
Works great in the Edge browser! Now is there a Dark Mode option?
It stopped working about 2 days ago or so. I've been trying so hard to make my Chromebook "work" in the real world of Microsoft and Google but I've had nothing but issues. I hate to say it, but I think I have to go back to my Windows laptop.
