Free and unlimited password manager to keep your login credentials safe and manage them directly in your browser.

Get the password manager created by the former scientists who met at CERN behind Proton Mail, the world’s largest encrypted email provider. Proton Pass is open-source, end-to-end encrypted, and protected by Swiss privacy laws.

Pass offers more than other free password managers and has no ads or data collection. You can use it for free forever on all your devices to create and store unlimited passwords, autofill logins, generate 2FA codes, create email aliases, secure your notes, and more.

* Protect your logins and their metadata with battle-tested end-to-end encryption

While many other password managers only encrypt your password, Proton Pass uses end-to-end encryption on all your stored login details (including your username, the website address, and more).

* Audit Pass’s open-source code

First version is __very__ promising and almost on par with other extensions that have been around for years. Roadmap is great so this will evolve with great new functionalities! User experience is fantastic! Way to go Proton! You'll champion this field soon!

I use it since the beta and it improves rapidly. I like where it is going and the level it already achieved.

I stand by my overall statement: it's OKAY. In fact, Proton Pass works pretty decently for being brand new. That said, it is very late to the Password-Manager space, and right now it lacks a lot of the features and general usability of other PMs. First, I'll quickly mention a few things that I know Proton has already announced will be added by the end of the year, but that aren't currently in the build. These include password sharing (and hopefully a family plan, but that hasn't been announced), a web app, and a desktop app. These will drastically improve usability and make it more feasible to use over another PM. Now here are the issues I still have (keep in mind that I use Brave, not Chrome, but given that Proton is meant for people who care about security I feel like they should be planning for that.): 1. Assuming that users want either a Username OR an Email in the "Username" slot, when most sites use the Username for in-site content but still want you to use Email for logging in. Give us both an Email and Username field in the default Login entry and train your screen-reading code to identify and fill them separately. Fixing this would actually put Proton Pass ahead of other PMs too. 2. Not saving a generated password immediately. Other PMs have this issue too, where you generate a password, assuming the PM will remember it, then save the account settings, only to find out that the PM did not actually save the password and now you have no idea what it is. This is the WORST issue to have, and the quickest way to make someone hate the PM. What's worse, while Proton Pass does try to detect when a new account has been made, with the "Save this Login?" popup, it fires off significantly less frequently than 1Password's, and only AFTER you go to the next page, no longer able to change the password. If passwords were saved like, for example, Proton Pass' email aliases, where they save immediately after creation and are then attached to a login, you'd never lose a password into the abyss. I can only hope that the developers figure that out before I get tired of manually making logins and give up. 3. The screen-reading and form-reading is subpar. I get that they are reinventing the wheel, and I don't expect them to be as advanced as say, Roboform, but Proton Pass will have to catch up to at least 1Password and Lastpass before anyone is going to be satisfied with the performance. Sure, we love Proton's other features, but that love alone doesn't mean we are willing to accept low-performing password protection, especially when it isn't included in the Proton Family Pass. I know that sounds entirely negative, but I did give three stars instead of one for a reason. For one, the design is clean and simple enough to understand and use. I'm experienced in PMs and have tested many, however, so I can't say how well a new user would take to it, but I can say it's it the upper bracket in the market in UX design. Being able to add your own fields in Logins, as well as notes, is a feature I use frequently in 1Password and one I'm glad to see in Proton Pass. I wish there were more types of these custom fields, but having them at all is fantastic. Of course, native inclusion of email aliases in Proton Pass is fantastic. Those who haven't experienced something like Ironvest or the 1Password+Fastmail integration will be blown away by how effective email aliasing is in helping to make email usable again; keeping spam at bay and giving control back to the users. That said, a little better explanation on how to "attach" email aliases to Logins while onboarding would be a good thing. Still, this feature is absolutely the biggest selling point. I'm keeping Proton Pass, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to 1Password just yet. After the next few updates--probably four or so months, I think I'll decide. I really love the idea of converting everything to Proton, especially since cross-integration between their products is becoming more prevalent, but, like I said, password protection is something that should be taken seriously, and I, at least, am not going to risk that just because I like the company.

The app is ok, but it is so slow that it is almost unusable. It takes 10-15 seconds to get the extention to respond so I can type in the pin, then it takes about the same to show me the login information.

Good one. Needs an option to ignore pages so that it doesn't ask to save login next time you visit the page
