A basic extension to redirect the 'New Tab' to an external site of your choosing.
Make sure you keep seeing your notes or important info when you're browsing, while keeping the URL bar focused and ready like the default new tab page.
A minimal extension; no background scripts or unnecessary permissions.
For issues and suggestions open a github issue.
Backend Description:
The extension implements a temporary 'New Tab Page' that when loaded, immediately queries the extension storage for your set redirect page, and then proceeds to redirect.

It's incredible, amazing. Thanks, it's really appreciated.
Finally a redirect that doesn't flashbang me. Thank you. Any way to change the background color when redirecting?
Nice clean and easy to use app. Works with Edge to override Microsoft's obession with controlling user behaviour. Availability of source code is a plus.
Works as expected
Hi Joshua, I really like New Tab Redirect, but I think there’s a feature that could make it stand out from all the other new-tab redirect extensions: Feature Request: Rename the New Tab Title Right now I can set my new tab to something like Google Calendar, but the tab still shows the default title “Google Calendar.” It would be great if the extension let users rename the tab title to anything they want. Example: I set my new-tab page to Google Calendar, but I rename it to “Priorities Today.” Now every time I open a new tab, the tab title says “Priorities Today” instead of “Google Calendar.” It feels more personal and purposeful. This small feature would make the extension even more useful and unique. Thanks for the great work!
Works like a LuckyCharm and Is my Favorite NewTab Extension!
Top!
Thank you! Had to start using Chrome again and spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do this on my own. Easy to use and no clutter or "extra features" -- bless you Joshua!
After testing a bunch of these redirect I've found this one to be best mostly because it after opening a new tab it direct focus to the search bar allowing you to easily enter a URL Downsides are that the pop out to enter the redirect URL seems a bit buggy. The pop up was tiny (maybe a quarter inch) and I could barely enter the site name and save. Also there is a ~half second delay when opening up a new tab
The best in its class. So danged easy to use from toolbar*
