Docs Online Viewer introduces a convenient way to view documents on the web.
It uses third party online services like Google docs API (or other services when available) to open links with extension PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, PPT, RTF, ODT, ODS, ODP, CSV and many more file formats online in the browser itself without need for any third party software installed on your computer.
This extension reduces the need for additional software required to open documents such as Acrobat reader plugin, Microsoft Office and so on. This is less resource intensive compared to using external software/plugins which are a bloat on your system and may cause browser / system crashes. It also reduces the risk of downloading malicious documents.
Docs Online Viewer is lightweight and tightly packed so that it does not slow down your browser.
If there are any bugs or if there are any missing features, please report in the "SUPPORT" section. I will try fixing them.

Such a simple and elegant idea.

I'm a chromebook user, so I find it annoying that many file types can't be accessed without a special extension. That said, this extension alleviated most of that annoyance. It allows me to open some typical Microsoft files as well as some more obscure file types. I can also save the files I'm opening into Drive easily for future use. This was a painless install (just follow the very clear directions) and learning curve. If you don't see the icon on a page you have open during install, just refresh the page. Voila! Little blue icons abound. High five, developer!

Good extension, but PLEASE try making it so that you can click directly on the link. I hate having to click on that small little icon.
Just installed it and tested it on a Word doc and an Excel doc. Worked perfectly. I can tell right away that it's going to become one of my favorite extensions (and I have a lot). It's fast, it's convenient, and it saves the multistep process of downloading a document that, in most cases, you didn't need anyway. Now if only it made the documents *editable* right from the viewer ... that would be a dream-come-true.
