Codex Chrome extension installs successfully, but browser automation is currently unreliable on macOS. Even after reinstalling Codex, Chrome, and the plugin, Codex cannot discover the Chrome backend, while node_repl fails with a sandboxPolicy metadata error. Promising tool, but the extension/native host bridge needs urgent attention.

I am getting this error when I am trying to let Codex use my chrome browser. "windows sandbox failed: runner error: CreateProcessAsUserW failed: 5" I am using Codex Version 26.616.30709 • Released Jun 18, 2026 Here is how to resolve the error so Codex can launch Chrome: 1. Open: C:\Users\<your Windows username>\.codex\config.toml 2. Add or change this: [windows] sandbox = "unelevated" 3. Restart Codex. You are welcome!
