Extension to return old Twitter layout from 2015 (or 2018). WORKS IN 2026!
This extension doesn't add any CSS on top of original Twitter. It's fully different client that replaces original new Twitter client, making it faster than alternatives that just add style on top of Twitter. This extension requires you to be logged in to Twitter account.
Please visit https://twitter.com/old/settings after installing to make it work just as you like. It switches to chronological timeline by default, you can switch back to algorithmical timeline in settings.
You can visit unchanged Twitter by visiting https://twitter.com?newtwitter=true.
The code is open source! Check https://github.com/dimdenGD/OldTwitter to see the code and report any issues.

the only thing helping me use old twitter dms instead of that forced passcode x-chat thing!! sometimes it breaks but it's probably problems on twitter's side, the problems are always fixed within a day so thank you so much

twitterの動画で何故か自動再生するのが有る。設定しても停まらん。後、更新された事を報せる通知が不安定過ぎな感。

love it, works amazingly but is there a way for it to stop showing the same tweets on the timeline? every time i refresh the page it's always the same stuff at the top
I can't recommend using this in good faith. The extension itself is wonderful, genuinely makes X (formerly Twitter) USABLE compared to the heap it is now. Despite this, they've started to issue bans to accounts using it, and it seems unsolvable from the user side, so it's really best to avoid using the plugin at all as of now. sorry dimden
It's a decent extension, when it works. I use this extension on my Opera GX browser and it used to work perfectly fine until it suddenly stopped because of a quote: "error in initializing security header generator: Module ID not found", which forced me to turn off this extension or else Twitter would've been unusable. I've tried both this and the Github file, and I tried logging out of my account but neither option seemed to do much. This issue has been persisting with each update (first starting in v1.9.6.1 or v1.9.6.2 if i remember correctly).
