Extension to return old Twitter layout from 2015 (or 2018). WORKS IN 2026!
This extension doesn't add any CSS on top of original Twitter. It's fully different client that replaces original new Twitter client, making it faster than alternatives that just add style on top of Twitter. This extension requires you to be logged in to Twitter account.
Please visit https://twitter.com/old/settings after installing to make it work just as you like. It switches to chronological timeline by default, you can switch back to algorithmical timeline in settings.
You can visit unchanged Twitter by visiting https://twitter.com?newtwitter=true.
The code is open source! Check https://github.com/dimdenGD/OldTwitter to see the code and report any issues.

most of the time it worked great but after the site changed to x.com instead of twitter.com it broke and im forced to use elons twitter. is there an update planned to fix that and make it usable with the x.com domain or is the add on completely broken now.

really like the old layout but now that the url is changed to x.com , it keeps refreshing to a white screen, is there a way to fix this?
Twitter in trying to push the X branding so hard broke the extension temporarily, but dimden quickly fixed it. thanks!

How do you make the screen wider now? It's back to the old style with this extension but the image is narrow like on my phone.
I 1000% recommend OldTwitter. This extension and Markfolder are the reasons I still use Twitter. The extension fixes so many of the problems that exist with modern Twitter such as the algorithm and the mobile-looking UI. With OldTwitter, it feels like you're scrolling through an actual website which is pretty cool. It even does some extra stuff such as allowing you to download videos and enable/disable certain features such as trends and view counters. OldTwitter is the perfect extension if you want to have some much needed updates to Twitter.
