I've been using Todoist for years now (about 7 I think) and cannot imagine not having it as an integral part of my workday routine. It allows me to "brain dump" tasks and reminders rather than trying to remember work and personal things that need to be done. It's replaced long and confusing handwritten lists and/or surrounding myself with random stickers that fall off files. My overall list is quite long. However, I categorize into project, priority level and schedule due dates etc - this literally requires only a few keystrokes and makes it instantly clearer and more manageable. Each morning, I bring up a list of what's due "today" and that's what I concentrate on. When I'm planning, I look at the upcoming view and integrate the new tasks.

I've been using ToDoist for about a year now and it's amazing. ToDoist has helped me keep track of my assignments for school as well as somehow motivate me. I love all the customization features and all the different ways to sort your tasks with projects, sections filters, and priorities. I also love that they now have hardly anything locked behind a paywall and that you get karma (the leveling system) for adding and completing tasks on time. Highly recommend for students or people who need help keeping up with tasks.
