(Note: I have edited this review to more clearly articulate my concerns.) Nice extension. However, my main concern is that it can give people a false sense of security when the product is used in ways other than the specific way intended by the developer. Note that while writing your message in the native editor, it is saved as a draft copy in clear text. The product, as it stands today, will copy the content of the native editor to the Mailvelope editor if there is anything in it. This may give the user the false impression that this is the/a proper way of using the product by enabling it and by virtue of convenience. The recommended use is to use the Mailvelope editor and only then transfer the encrypted content to the native editor. If you use the native editor first, nothing prevents your email provider from reading your messages before they're encrypted. As with all software, nothing prevents your browser/extensions from grabbing the text before it's encrypted. Use only trusted software.

I just discovered Mailvelope also works in NextCloud's mail plugin! Amazing. (just add your Nextcloud instance's domain to the rules for webmail providers.) Very easy to use extension for enabling end-to-end encryption. If Google *really* wanted to protect peoples' privacy this would be the way to do it. They should fund development of this plugin, drive its adaptation to all major browsers and webmail clients, and help usher in an era of end-to-end encryption where everyone's grandmother can use PGP as easily as doing a cut-and-paste :P OK I should wake up now. :/
