Extension Features:
- Makes phone numbers on websites callable via Google Voice by just clicking on them.
- If a phone number doesn't turn into a link, you can select the text with your mouse and right-click to make a call (note: might not work with all numbers).
Info:
- If you don't like the extension turning numbers into Voice icon links, you can turn it off in the extension options.

Completely worthless now, not only did they remove the ability to send/receive texts but now it shows a gray question mark on it.
Why does the extension not show me my messages or at least notify me that I received a message?
Was really a good extension. Could see the number of messages, write a quick text, call from the it. Now it is just an URL link to the Google Voice site. With the legacy website you could set a ring schedule. Another good and handy tool that Google just decided to screw up. Another company not listening what people want, but force feed them on stuff they think I need. 12/15/2021 Now the whole thing is dead. Cannot access texts, weird stuff happening on webpages. Way to screw it up Google
Used to be great, now it's just a shortcut to the Google Voice site.
Trying to find alternative to Hangouts (which has been great with google voice!), but this doesn't even serve the same purpose at all. There's no laptop app, click to call pops up a facetime call interface(wth), have to have a browser window open all the time for g.voice to text or call. This extension doesn't even work. This is no good at all and certainly no substitute for Hangouts. What are you all thinking, google? Get it together!
This used to be a great extension but the flag (unread texts, missed calls, etc.) functionality was broken on it awhile back along with the audio notification when a new text comes in. Used to be a really great extension; not even sure why I have it installed now. Went from five stars to one when they removed the important pieces of this.
it's a decent enough extension, has some minor annoyances. we had to remove from our gsuite domain though because it causes these errors in the Chrome console for some websites: Unexpected token g in JSON
I used to love this extension. I mostly used it for quickly viewing and sending text messages. They got rid of that ability a few months ago, and limited it to making calls only. Since that change the extension is pointless for me since I have to keep a separate tab open for texts anyways.
Google removed the ability to read and write texts from the popup, rendering this useless.
(Windows 8.1 Pro, using Chrome Desktop, latest version, default flag settings) : What purpose does this extension serve? It does not display notifications for incoming messages OR calls. Why is there not a desktop (or Chrome) app? I've installed this extension, over the years, numerous times in hope that it would provide the functionality that I need (which is to display a notification for incoming messages without running voice.google.com in a tab or window).. unfortunately, it has never done so properly. When it did show a notification (on previous versions of the extension), there was often lag and sync problems. Throughout the years, in attempt to resolve lag and sync issues, I have tried the following: un/reinstall extension, reset sync, cleared cache/temporary files, uninstalled Chrome browser, reinstalled new AND old versions of Chrome, and tried with different Google accounts. The Hangouts extension has always been more reliable in the past, but that workaround is no longer viable.
