This used to be the best extension for Chrome. It had everything one would ever need in a new tab: a powerful bookmark alternative, app and extension capabilities and integration, and the ability to create your own customized tiles for ANTP. I can tolerate some ads. The relatively unobtrusive New Tab Deals ads were small and (technically) added actual functionality. In addition, anyone smart enough not to click on the ads would know how to disable them with a bit of poking around in options. What isn't fair is the need to plaster a giant banner on the side of your new tab, where adblockers can't see it or recognize it. This extension is not like a calculator that you use only every now and then. You open your new tab page every time you need another tab. The ad sits there, irremovable by those of us who can't afford to spend a dime. The ad is not even an actual ad! It's advertising for you to donate to remove itself! Essentially saying, "I'm going to pester you continually until you give me your cash". One of the biggest reasons I chose ANTP almost two years ago is that it was one of the few worthwhile extensions that were ad-free. Several thousand long-time users were supportive and made this extension as well-known as it is now and what to we get? A very obtrusive ad plastered across our screen every time we open a new tab?! You might as well make this paid-only! This isn't exactly as productive as it used to be if I have to wait for the resource-heavy scrolling to scroll to see where my apps and shortcuts used to be visible scroll-free.
