I think it would be cool to not only remove the 'red 0', but make the button gray when there's no new mail, as someone already mentioned. The less distractive, the better.

This checker seems to be comfortable visibly, but I hate it indicates 0 despite whether I've received an email or not. I think former version is better.

Please remove the "0" unread emails number from the icon in chrome. It's very misleading and there should only be a number displayed, if the unread email count is >= 1, like it was before.
