Slop Evader is a browser add-on that searches the web for content posted before ChatGPT's public release on November 30th, 2022. It pushes back against false narratives of progress and assumes that the quality of the internet as an information retrieval tool has been in rapid decline since the public uptake of generative AI (see dead internet theory).
As media like images, video, and text become untethered from reality and are generated from unknown datasets and contexts. The cognitive load of searching, encountering, and assessing media has increased substantially. Every time you encounter content, you must now ask yourself – is this real or AI-generated? Is this old or new? Where did this come from?
Slop Evader offers some respite. If you want to browse the web before the age of generated media, this tool is for you.

Remove AI Overviews and filter Google for pre-AI content.
Modifies Google Search URLs to include '&udm=14' when enabled.
Wonderfully useful for searching art references that won't make you learn the wrong way to do things.
I can use ChatGPT and I can view AI music on YT. Does not work. Think of it this way. What happens if AI generates an image and someone downloads it and takes a screenshot of it on their computer. The quality stays the same but the meta data of it being AI generated gets erased. Don't believe me? Do this test and u will see. Generate an image using AI (I used ChatGPT) and download it. upload that to X. U will see before you hit post that the bottom lights up "AI Generated". Then take a screen shot of it and upload it to X and you will see the message of the bottom is gone. Same AI generated but without the meta data.
love it
love you<3
This works! I use it for Pinterest specifically, but I think someone might find it useful that you can make an anti-AI default search through built-in Chrome features: search up how to set Google "Web" setting/&udm=14 as default (I believe this is possible for other browsers too). You can try before you commit by searching something normally and going to the Web tab on the top row that has options like All and Images, I'm admittedly not sure how it works but I only see high-quality content through this.
amazing! i am so tired of ai slop everywhere
THANK YOU! I remember back then searching and finding plenty of pictures on Pinterest and simply went like "woah this is cool work here"! But now, ever since the "AI" rise, all I could think of was either "is something off here?" or "is this too good to be true?" and wasted minutes wondering if a single picture was lazily generated or made from actual work because most generations are not properly labelled. It is sad to have come to a point where this extension is truly needed. Thank you for supporting human work.
ur my hero
thank the gods
Dalej nie widzę różnicy w przeglądaniu treści, bo wciąż występują obrazki wygenerowane przez AI. Aplikacja do poprawy, i licze na to, że umożliwia blokowanie artykułów pisanych od roku 2023.
