It takes about 6-8 seconds to block ads and banners like cookie notices where uBlock does the same instantly. Ghostery is resource hungry and slows down your PC. It lacks ability to block ads or annoyances within the context menu. But you can add custom filters in the settings. With the inflated prices of RAM and SSD due to AI we can't afford to keep upgrading to more powerful CPUs and faster RAM and GPU to keep fighting this same battle. In the past I wouldn't use it due to it's poor blocking, it then improved, but now awful again. Many ads are not being blocked. Additionally, Ghostery has issues on Outlook Live (Hotmail) it doesn't block the annoying spam mail by Microsoft that always shows up as the first email. Adguard used to block this too, currently only uBlock still does. Latest version allows you to add custom scripts (use AI) and block them permanently. Reputable independent analyses have highlighted that the extension no longer effectively blocks ads on YouTube, leading to a considerable number of uninstalls. On the other hand, there are still a few extensions that manage to block YouTube ads, at least for the time being. Adguard, Malwarebytes, and uBlock Origin are some alternatives worth considering. However, Malwarebytes significantly slows down the browsing experiences in my personal experience. If I need robust protection and can't get uBlock is killed, I'll use the slower Adguard. But for casual to moderate adblocking and removing annoyances, I will use another browser with built-in adblocking protection.

I always loved Ghostery, but AOL has been able to beat us by inserting ads between emails. Today, two years later, I log into AOL and no sneaky ads!!!! Thank you, Ghostery.
