HTML5 video provides native APIs to accelerate playback of any video, but most implemented players either hide or limit this functionality. This extension fixes that, plus more...

It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.

Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:

- S - decrease playback speed.

- D - increase playback speed.

- R - reset playback speed.

UPDATE October 2, 2021: As of a few days ago, the extension is now wonderful once again. The positioning issue has been fixed, and as a bonus, even the rounded corners have been squared up again. Many thanks to the developer! ----------- Old Review August 26, 2021: Please fix the positioning on YouTube. A few days ago the extension started appearing near the middle of the screen, when it should be located along the edge of the screen. When it's near the middle of the screen, it is too intrusive. Also, I feel the new rounded design does not mesh well with desktop websites. Desktop versions of YouTube and many other sites don't have a ton of rounded corners. So the old, less rounded design was better... Otherwise, the extension has been absolutely great!

This is truly my favorite extension for chrome. I usually start watching video at 2x and slowly increase to 3x because I am able to increase the speed by .1 the change doesnt feel this drastic. This extension is so important to me that I have it on my dating profile 😂😂

minor change: hey btw can you make buttons as rectangular as the buttons are already smaller and hide quickly and if the buttons are rectangular, the click area is bigger
