Used FBP for many years and it has always worked great. They update it regularly, so you do need to update it when needed and also go into the settings to make them work the way you want. The bad reviews look like they are from people who don't take the 1 to 2 minutes to set it up right. So, set it up right and it will do what you want. Don't, and it wont.

Update: On March 30th I decided to give it another try, but it still doesn't block sponsored posts. The one thing I want it to do, and what it claims it does. Original review: Just doesn't work I am still getting a timeline filled with sponsored posts. Hiding sponsored posts may just be one of it's features, but it's the only one I was interested in. According to the news post on your site, and the FB link, it's been nearly 20 weeks since it's worked correctly. So saying that this just stopped working as intended isn't seeming very truthful. Your description say "Fluff Busting Purity hides all the ads, game spam, sponsored posts and other annoying stuff on Facebook and generally makes Facebook less annoying to use." So telling me that not doing any of that, except maybe the game posts is ok, doesn't make much sense.

does not work and zero support.My FB page gets "follow" or "join" posts by the hundreds every time I open FB. I block the page and another 20 show up.

you can't see the fb purity link on top of the page but it is working for me. i looked at my news feed and only saw groups or people i was connected to!
