PDF.js is a Portable Document Format (PDF) viewer that is built with HTML5.
PDF.js is community-driven and supported by Mozilla. Our goal is to create a general-purpose, web standards-based platform for parsing and rendering PDFs.
This extension offers PDF.js as the default PDF viewer in Chrome. This is the official Chrome extension of the PDF.js project. Be careful of unrelated copycats.
If you want to use this viewer to view local files, visit chrome://extensions/?id=oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm and put a check before "Allow access to file URLs".

Some of the font rendering is broken in a great deal of newer PDFs. Is it possible that this matter was inherited from an older version of PDF.js? I'd like to rate higher, but that particular issue is significantly hindering. Edit: Rob Wu has reached out to me regarding my concern; he's advised that he'll be working on the matter when he has a moment. Other than the one issue I'd had, this is the best option for Chrome available.

much better than the default viewer since printing is broken on the default chromes viewer this one works
