Mute Tab is an extension that helps you quickly mute all tabs with just one button (click).
The toolbar button serves as an ON|OFF switch, once pressed, the icon will change accordingly (the color and shape). Please note that if you want to unmute just one tab, simply right-click on a tab and then click on the "Unmute Tab" item. To mute all tabs except the active tab, please visit the options page. If you manually unmute a tab, the addon will NOT change it, even if you click on the toolbar icon.

Minimally 'works' but it desperately needs shortcuts. See Mute Tab Shortcuts as a reference (now defunct unfortunately it seems).

I am just looking for something that will mute all tabs by default, but let me unmute it. This extension keeps remuting the tab when I switch to a different tab. Not what I want.
Works well with Google Chrome. All other browsers support the CTRL + M shortcut to mute a tab which I have assigned as a Macro key to one of my mouse buttons. Unfortunately, Chrome took away such a basic function, to assign keyboard shortcuts. What I did was I installed this extension, then went to the Extensions menu in Chrome, then Keyboard Shortcuts, and I assigned this extension the CTRL + M Shortcut and in the settings of the extension I set it to mute the active tab. Works like a charm.

한번 클릭하면 그 탭의 상태가 mute-sound 이렇게 순환하는게 직관적이지만 이건 이상함. 한번 클릭해서 active tab만 mute는 가능한데, 그 상태에서 다른 탭을 누르면 전체 mute상태가 해지됨. 암튼 직관적이지않고 짜증나는 ui
Does not mute tab, mutes everything. Completely useless.
Works for the most part, but there's a bug when you use option 3 (mute all tabs except the active tab). When you use this option and lose focus of the tab for 5 seconds it will mute. Also option 3 doesn't seem to be muting tabs on other windows.
Seems to have canceled out my previous selections for sites I want muted, which is irksome. But it's nice to wholly mute Chrome when I want to.
Can you please add a feature to initiate Silent Mode automatically when the host MacOS's Do Not Disturb mode is turned on? A simple Option+Click on the MacOS taskbar date turns on MacOS Do Not Disturb, and it would be awesome if that one click made everything (including Chrome, using an extension like yours) go silent (except perhaps the active tab as per your extension settings).
