It's incredibly helpful for filling out applications, I would suggest either allowing people to add certifications or omitting the education portion as not everyone has degrees and you currently cannot put other things in education such as certifications or even an "Other" section. Requiring only the limited section between degrees means I have to go back and edit those portions accordingly on each application.
