This is a free Google utility tool with no payment, subscription, premium tier, or billing code. All 'pro' keyword matches are false positives hitting 'process', 'product', 'procedure' in localization strings (e.g., 'Select a product', 'recovery process'). The 'billed' match is a false positive hitting Danish 'afbrudt' (interrupted). No payment platforms, no upgrade UI, no license checks.

- The extension is a standalone local utility that uses Chrome's native APIs (chromeosInfoPrivate, imageWriterPrivate, fileSystem) to create recovery media. The workflow (select device → select target drive → write image) requires no authentication. All keyword matches for 'auth', 'session', 'token', 'userid' are false positives from Closure Library license text (AUTHORS), analytics session tracking, and autocomplete UI code tokens—not actual login flows.

Me hace una division maliciosa a mi memoria USB, no consigo arreglar mi pc.
Great extension, but "create from local image" should allow .img, .iso files etc., not just zips. Zipping a file just for the extension to unzip it again is ridiculous

After trying multiple times, with different computers , it get's stuck perpetually on 'creating a recovery image' every single time. If only I could manually download chrome OS and install it some other way. Fixing that chromebook is so irritating compared to what I'm accustomed to fixing: windows laptops which are just so much easier to work with.
In order for it to work properly, you must rename the file by changing iso to bin and load the tool, add a usb 8Gb or more. After, in the window where it ask to make a Chromebook backup you just switch to add own image or load own file. select The file and in about 2 min youll have it. Honestly it works better than all others i've used etcher etc. Google designed this unity to work extremely well with all new chrome books. remember to rename iso to bin before adding media or proceeding the steps.
Ne fonctionne tout simplement pas.
My daughters chromebook stopped with a screen that said "Chromebook" and the logo. I researched and found info on using the recovery utility to get it working again. It worked great and her chromebook is working like it was before-great! Im very happy it was a 16.00 fix ( for the SD card)
there is no image written to any type of storage device tried such as USB SD card etc. No reply to help
