The latest update of this extension is "sponsored", which is just an absurd concept for a free browser extension and serves as yet another desperate attempt to goad everyone into using unethical, unreliable, sloppy generative AI trash. Why would I use a glorified predictive algorithm for reliable information when it has no ability to ensure its information is reliable, and is possible only due to mass intellectual theft? Touch a whole field, devs.

I used this extension for 4 years and it has been incredible the entire time (it has been the only extension that has the feature set that I want for YouTube), until this morning when I woke up to an update saying that it no longer blocked ads. As this was one of the main reasons that I used it, I cannot continue to support this extension and I unfortunately have to recommend that you find a different one (I will be using "SponsorBlock" from now on). It sucks that I have to do this because this is a great extension but the dev removing one of its core features for no apparent reason has destroyed my confidence in this extension. Edit 1: Even if the Dev reintroduces the AdBlock feature I don't think I will ever be reinstalling this extension, this is based on 3 things: 1) Previously I mentioned that my trust in this extension had been completely destroyed because the Dev had removed a core feature that was the major selling point for this extension but to make it worse the Dev's reasoning was that they wanted to "align with YouTube's guidelines" (no shame in following the rules) but from what I can find this extension is not bound to these guidelines and has no incentive to follow them. The only reason I can think of for removing AdBlock is because the Dev was able to get a conditional sponsorship that required the extension to follow YouTube guidelines. 2) As I am reading through these other reviews I see the Dev replying to some of them in a very rude and careless way saying things like: "Sponsorblock??? 🙃 Looks like you have no idea of what you're talking about 😂" and "Congrats 🥳, you are the 👑 of all the 🤡 that have posted bad reviews here since the last update. Looks like you guys are too 🤪 to understand why I had to remove all the ad-related features... and too 🤪 to simply install uBlock Origin to replace them" I don't think the dev understands that I do not want to use uBlock or some other extension when I could have it all in one extension. I don't think that this is a person I want to continue to support. 3) As I said earlier, AdBlock was the primary feature of this extension and I do not think that the other features offered are enough to make the extension worth having, Especially because YouTube never bothered me about using this extensions AdBlock but many other extensions had issues with it. TO THE DEV: Hi, first of I do want to thank you, this has been an amazing extension for the four years that I used it and in the aftermath of this update I have some recommendations: 1) Reintroduce AdBlock to the extension. If I was correct and you did remove it for the sponsorship I would recommend trying to push donations from the community, this is an extension I would have been happy to support with donations. I absolutely understand if you needed to take the sponsorship for financial reasons and you mentioned that the update would have taken longer without the sponsorship but this is a chrome extension, the time between updates does not matter to most users. This extension is clearly a passion project so I am assuming that you have a job outside of this and if money is a problem then I would say: put the extension on the backburner for a while and focus on work. 2) Don't be so rude to your community, it pushes them away and disincentivizes others (or at least the 95% of people who read reviews) from using your product. At the end of the day the community is what makes something like this good, so you want it to be as large as possible. I hope this did something Additionally as I'm posting this I'm seeing reviews that look botted and suspicious, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I just wanted to point it out.
